Habitat comments: "It is situated in lignite-rich, relatively continuous Neogene de- posits of the Lower Rhine Basin: a graben structure filled with debris from the rising Rhenish Massif following the Oligocene. The lignite seams interfinger with marine (beach) sands of the transgressing North Sea and with floodplain and fluvial sediments"
